The Davy Crockett Ranch is a case apart: five hundred and ninety-five bungalows scattered through woodland, eight kilometres from the parks, with no free shuttle to the gates. Almost everyone who stays here arrives by car — except the families who arrive by air, for whom the question of getting about becomes pressing on the first evening.

We pick up at the estate reception, by the entrance, and on request come directly to the bungalow when vehicle access is open. That detail changes the whole business when there are two small children, three cases and two hundred metres of gravel between you and the car park.

Real distances

From Roissy allow forty-five to fifty-five minutes; from Orly about an hour. Because the Ranch lies further east than the lakeside hotels, the difference in fare against Chessy is marginal — a matter of a few euros — and we apply the Disneyland Paris fares.

The other thing worth knowing is that the woodland roads are unlit and the mobile signal is patchy in places. Our drivers text you before entering the estate, and for a departure before dawn we agree the exact bungalow and the route in advance rather than improvising among the trees.
